The nucleus of the ESC Working Group on Cardiovascular Nursing is comprised of 9 nurses involved in nursing research, clinical practice and/or education, assuring the integration of both science and practice in the field of cardiovascular nursing.

Objectives
- To promote and organise research and education for cardiac nurses
- To gather and exchange information regarding research and activities by international networking
- To design and co-ordinate scientific research
- To contribute to the organisation, preparation and delivery of the annual ESC Congress
- To organise an annual spring meeting for cardiovascular nurses
- To promote and support the European Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing, the official journal of the working group
- To organise and participate in educational activities within the ESC i.e. courses at the European Heart House
- To support and promote nurses active in cardiovascular care to apply as nurse fellows
- To establish appropriate recommendations for the ESC regarding the field of cardiovascular nursing via the nucleus of the working group
- To contribute to task forces for the development and implementation of ESC guidelines for practice
- To collaborate and work in partnership with other working groups within the ESC, national societies of cardiac nurses and the American Heart Association's Council on Cardiovascular Nursing
